Our curriculum

mentorship

Four young men are in a library or study room, where one is adjusting or fixing the collar of a second man. The other two young men stand nearby observing. The background includes bookshelves and a window.

Our Value-Based Mentoring Workshops focus on one of our organization's seven core values which emphasizes providing positive social and emotional development by engaging topics such as developing and maintaining positive relationships, emotion identification and regulation, self-care practices, conflict resolution, and goal setting and attainment. Our sessions implement a variety of interactive and reflective activities that allows our mentees to grapple with these abstract concepts in tangible, hands-on ways.

Learning development days

Learning and Development Workshops focus on mentees engaging topics such as SAT/ACT prep, applying for FASFA, researching college options, enlisting in the military, transitioning into the workforce, choosing a trade, and financial literacy just to name a few topics. In these sessions, our Learning and Development Director hosts career panels with professionals from different industries, as well as activities such as practice interviews, resume building, and college application bootcamps.

lifestyle days

A group of young men playing basketball on an outdoor court. One player is jumping to take a shot, while the others watch. The court is surrounded by a green fence, with houses and trees in the background, and a tall building in the distance. It is a sunny day.

Lifestyle Workshops present opportunities to learn and practice tangible life skills such as practicing mindfulness and yoga, cooking, changing tires, and fitness education. We also strive to engage our mentees in prosocial activities such as taking them hiking, bowling, fishing, group dinners, college tours, and community service.
